My name is Benjamin James Biggs, like most kids, I don’t like the name my parents gave me, so please call me Ben. I am 18 years old and live in Mayland, Essex. I am currently completing the last year of my A-Levels at St Peters High School 6th form College. When I have finished my gap year, I hope to go to University and study Engineering.
Having chosen my A-levels, I started to look towards what I was going to do after 6th form. A gap year was an idea that struck me as a good one. After researching into a variety of companies, none of which grabbed me, a gap year organisation gave a talk at my school. Since then I knew Project Trust was the organisation I wanted to spend my year with. I attended a selection course between 29th September and 3rd October, and a few days later received a letter confirming I had been selected to spend my gap year in Guyana, South America.
I want to go to Guyana to experience life living and working in a different culture as a local. This learning experience will help develop my skills, which will assist me later in life as well as giving me an opportunity that I will remember for the rest of my life. My teaching work in Guyana will help benefit the local community.
