Project Trust is a registered charity based on the Isle of Coll in Scotland. It was founded in 1968 as an educational charity and since then has sent more than 4000 volunteers abroad. Each year they send around 200 young people overseas to around 25 countries. These countries range from South America and Africa to South Asia and the Far East.
To be selected for Project Trust you must first attend a 4-day selection course, this is to make sure they can get to know you and you can get to know them, which you can’t do in a half hour interview. The courses are based on the Isle of Coll, this is a test in itself, and how are you going to survive a year overseas if you can’t make it to Scotland?
During the selection course you participate in a number of activities from digging lazy beds to dancing a ceilidh and writing a current affairs essay.
Providing you have displayed the qualities Project Trust look for in a volunteer a letter of acceptance is sent to you.
Now the hard task of fundraising begins!
